Description
We are an Austrian independent game studio with 15+ years’ experience in Unity-based games and a track record of 25+ published titles.
History
The people behind Rarebyte originally met back in 1999. After working together and sharpening our skills for several years, we officially founded Rarebyte as a company in 2006. Right from the start we were aiming for the top, so we skipped the cliché of a garage-based company and went straight for the attic. In 2008 we self-published our first official release called Waterstorm, a fast-paced side-scrolling multi-player submarine shooter. We developed all needed tech (game engine, editor, game client, backend) ourselves. Since then, Rarebyte has become a well-established indie game studio.
Our projects include: Rogue Glitch UltraDeveloped in collaboration with Lino Slahuschek, Rogue Glitch Ultra is a platformer's paradise within a roguelite world of procedurally generated levels and arrays of enemies.
We Are Screwed!We Are Screwed! is a chaotic co-op space action game for 1-4 players. You are the crew of the worst space vessel in the known galaxy, and you must operate, manage, and repair your spaceship on a crazy-hilarious journey to save the Multiverse!
Game Dev Tycoon (mobile)In collaboration with Greenheart Games, we created a mobile version for the critically acclaimed game development business simulation.
PublishingWe also publish games by other indie developers, such as Ratz Instagib, where 'Shoot first, eat cheese later' is a valid philosophy of life.
Seeds of SolOur isometric action adventure with roguelike elements feat. a multiple personality AI.
Event-based gamesWe also have a long history of developing games designed to attract people to stands at events like Gamescon and Paris Games Week.
